|
|
I've been running my X-45 for about 5 years with the original out of the box driver and software on an Alienware running Home edition XP. I have had no issues until I loaded the new Saitek drivers and profiler software ( 02/05/10 ) onto my system.
Since doing so, I have not been able to get full range response from the throttle. The 1st 50% is dead, despite there being no dead zone programmed in. I get only 30% throttle at maximum stop in the game. The control panel test indicates everything working fine but calibrating the throttle reveals an area of no response (0 to 114 of 220 value roughly).
I did go out and grab my whole Saitek folder off of my C drive ( original install version - software/drivers ) and put them on a flash drive. Then I ran a windows uninstall and then went into C drive and deleted Saitek folders before installing new software/drivers as mentioned previously.
I saw this old thread with basically the same main issue. Like Tim's Dad I would rather not go buy a new controller when all hardware wise seems to be working fine with this one, I like it, and I am used to flying with it.
Here is a thread from a while back on Saitek forums in regards to this issue. I have sent same message to Saitek support.
http://www.saitekforum.com/showthread.php?t=14642
Should I try to reintstall my old software/drivers and reprofile to see if that works? If so, does anyone know the step by step process to get all current Saitek files, etc. off of my PC before attempting to install old software.
Thanks,

My current driver/software version is 4.3.3.1727 works fine in winXP 32bit.
Just a guess...
Unfinished install process? Yes this can happen. _________________

Thanks guys...I hope to hear back from Saitek support before long. I hope since most of the threads in the Saitek forums are from like 2002 - 2004 that they have come up with a better/easier fix for this issue. But ya never know...Don't like having to snoop around in the registry to delete files...
I will keep y'all posted. Hope to fly again someday. LoL...It is a friggin conspiracy! |

do you have a windows restore point on your machine from before installing the drivers?
IF so you could re-load this and see if your stick works _________________ JG27_delta

I uninstalled the newest Saitek software and drivers then deleted program folder. Then did the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE and inf processes. Also did windows search for sai*.* files. Did a reboot and reinstalled old version of software and drivers. Did another reboot. Remapped and profiled and it is working with IL2 4.09m on XP.
As long as it is finally working !!! I bet I spent 15-20 hours messing with that game, controller, etc. to get back up and working properly.
I got the following response from Saitek Support in case anyone has this problem or other issues with their Saitek controller. This is basically what I did before reinstalling older version of Saitek software and drivers
Official Saitek Response:
To recalibrate, first unplug the stick.
Go to start/run and type regedit.
The registry editor will have a list of folders on the left hand side. Go down into the following folders in order.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE (CURRENT_USER if on VISTA)
System
CurrentControlSet
Control
Media Properties
Private Properties
Direct Input
Inside the Direct Input folder, delete any folder that begins VID_06A3.
Once done, close the editor. Plug the stick back in and move all the axes (including throttle) through their full range of movement 4 times.
Now go to control panel/game controllers/properties to see if everything is ok on the test screen.
Complete Driver and SST removal
Unplug the joystick and go to Control Panel and then Add Remove Programs/Features, remove any Saitek software that is listed in the programs list.
Restart your PC so that the uninstallation completes. Now go to your Program Files folder and delete the Saitek folder. Also delete the InstallShield installation information folder.
Then go to C:\WINDOWS\Temp and delete the Saitek folder in there.
Now browse to your C:\Windows\Inf folder
(If you can't see an Inf folder then click Tools>Folder Options at the top of the window, then click View at the top of the window that comes up. In there click the dot next to the Show Hidden Files and Folders option and then click OK - you should now be able to open the Inf folder in the Windows directory)
Look for the OEM0.inf file. Find the highest numbered OEMXX.inf file and double click on it - a Wordpad screen will open up with information in it. You're looking for any lines that refer to Saitek (usually at the top of the window). If you don't see any such info close that window and open the next OEMXX.inf file - so if you started on, say, OEM30.inf then you'd now open OEM29.inf.
If you find any that refer to Saitek then close the window and delete that OEMXX.inf file along with its accompanying OEMXX.pnf file. Go through all of them until you have deleted any files that mention us.
Now, next do a ‘search’ for files in the Windows folder using the following search string: sai*.*
Once it's finished finding any files delete them - files only though, don't delete any folders, and only Saitek files. All Saitek files have sai at the start and are usually followed by a capitalised word (like SaiMini.sys for example)
Click Start>Run and type regedit and click ok.
Go to HKEY_Local_Machine (Current_User if on Vista) and remove any of the following entries if present:
Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\Saitek Gaming Extensions
Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\{167E4A06-F407-11D3-95F5-0080AD910D79}

Software\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\{967FB80D-56BD-42EF-A942-9E8C78F984A4}
That will get rid of everything and allow for a fresh installation

| Yep Tomcat......That came from their tech support. I sent an email to the tech support email address per their website. That response was in regards to Windows XP OS. |

I'm sure it will only takes 10 minutes to code the sequence of action decribed in his answers. It's pretty amazing they did not.
I now start to understand why I had to buy 3 X52 for 18 month of playing IL2 ... |
