Pilots!

For months now the question of WarClouds moving to a controlled MOD version has been before you all and the question has been considered by the admin team for longer than that. A solid majority of our players are in favour of a controlled MOD environment. There has been a substantial and sustained effort by the MOD community to address these control issues. It all adds up. Our pilots want this, control has been addressed and it’s time to change.

To those that were banned in the past for MOD usage, those bans are removed. It is time to look ahead, not behind and to let bygones be bygones. Should you decide to join: Welcome Back!

To those that are not in favour of this move, we understand and respect your position but we hope that you will move with us. We hope that you can also say it is time.

Testing on a test server has been underway for many days and has gone well. Several among you have answered our call for help with this testing and, not only have these pilots given their effort to the testing task; they have also presented well-considered opinion to the future direction of this server. It’s been a pleasure to work with them, as always the pilots make the server and they have all our thanks. And to ALL of the WarClouds community that have continued to support WarClouds during one of its most trying times, thank you as well.

Starting on March 27th WCWF will run 4.09b1m + AAA’s UI1.1.1 with 6DOF and CRT=2

Until then the WarClouds ToH server is open to the general public and you are all invited and encouraged to join and to try it out for yourselves. The ToH server can be found on HyperLobby. If there are any questions, don't hesitate to ask them on WC forums.

Most of you are aware of what AAA’s outstanding work has to offer and among these offerings are planes that fit well into WarClouds Western Front and open exciting possibilities.

As of now the WarClouds policy on useful MODS discussion is wide open and unrestricted on our forums.

IL-2 1946 Patch Installer 1.0

Today I've released a IL-2 1946 Patch Installer.

IL2 1946 Patch Installer includes
* Patch 4.08m, for upgrading out of the box IL-2 Sturmovik 1946 versions (4.07m or 4.071m)
* Patch 4.09b1m, for upgrading IL-2 1946 version 4.08m
* New default skins for 4.09b1m
* New graphic core DLL's from 2008-03-13
* Switcher for switching between 4.08m and 4.09b1m

Although this patch installer includes all above, they are to be selected as components to install. If you have any of those components already installed you just uncheck the component.
When you install the switcher it will copy 4 shortcuts to your desktop:
- IL-2 Sturmovik 4.08m, will switch and execute IL-2 4.08m
- IL-2 Sturmovik 4.09b1m, will switch and execute IL-2 4.09b1m
- Hyperlobby 4.08m, will switch and execute Hyperlobby 4.08m
- Hyperlobby 4.09b1m, will switch and execute Hyperlobby 4.09b1m

Warclouds Western Front update to 4.09b1m

January 4, 2009 the Warclouds Western Front server will be updated to 4.09b1m version. Also, we will enable CRT=2 to insure everyone joining this server does it with the same files as the server is running.

In Hyperlobby we will add the right version to the server name, so anyone who is not reading this forum could know what version we are at.

After several tests with other players from around the globe we are quite sure players with different OS and character sets are still able to join the Western Front server.
This is our measure to prevent or limit the 3rd party modifications usage but also to have the benefit of the new provided maps within the 4.09b1m patch plus the new default skins.

After we have updated the server to 4.09b1m we will reset the TARGET stats at January 11, 2009.

If there are any mapmakers in here and you would like to create one to be played on the Warclouds server, for example a mission played on any of the new maps, submit them to JG27_Heven_Sent, JV44Heinzbar or myself.

T.A.R.G.E.T. statistics reset

After 8 months of competition we think it is time to reset the statistics. Although we can easily add another same period, it wouldn't make much sense.
Therefor within the next 7 days (probably Friday or otherwise Monday morning early) we will reset the stats, and we will start from scratch again.

The next stat reset is most likely to happen when we update to 4.09m. If not, another period of 6 months at least is assured.

Upcoming change: We will make the Top 500 visible. 50 p/page.
